Dr Seuss Thing one and Thing two onesie tutorial

Welcome to
Make it Monday

This last weekend I was invited to a friends baby shower who is pregnant with her 4th and 5th babies...
that's right - TWIN BOYS
I started to think what I could make for her that she didn't already have
and that was clever and really emphasized the twins factor!
That's when I remembered I saw an adorable baby shower idea for twins from
Design Dazzle that was a Dr Suess
THING ONE AND THING TWO
themed!
That was it!

I was going to make it a THING ONE AND THING TWO
themed gift!

Want to make one too?
Here's how :
I started off by scanning a page out of the book
then using my photoshop program
I cut around the THINGS and transfered them to their own page and then brightened up the color.
I know have a clean image ready for printing
I am suppling the images for you here:

I bought some Printable fabric sheets
I bought mine at walmart for $12.99 (there are 7 sheets included in the pack)

you put the paper in your printer and print on it just as you would normal paper
(make sure you follow the directions on your package on how to load your paper)
The image comes out clean and crisp!

Then I peeled the back of the fabric sheet off
leaving it a thin  normal piece of fabric now

I then trimmed around my THINGS
*remember to leave enough room to be able to sew around them*
follow the direction on your fabric paper package on how to set the color
*mine told me to iron for 1-2 minutes on high heat with no pressure - then to gently rinse in COLD water - lay flat to dry (do not rub - blot dry only) once they are mostly dry iron again for one minute until completely dry*

at this point you have TWO options
either
A - pin fabric onto onesie or shirt and sew it on
or
B - using wonderunder adhere the applique onto the onesie prior to sewing
I DID OPTION B

* follow the direction that are on your wonderunder package*

I then peeled off the backing of the wonderunder and placed the applique on my onesie

then iron on the applique onto the onesie to set it
some people will leave the onesie as is and it is supposed to be durable and strong enough to stay on even after washing
BUT
just to be safe I always stitch around my appliques to ensure more longevity of the item!

**repeat all of those steps for the second onesie**
and TADA

you have two finished THING ONE AND THING TWO
onesies or t shirts!

I then added the onesies, the Dr Seuss book, and red and blue socks to match to a basket
tied it off with a big ribbon
and there you have a great TWINS gift basket!

Be sure to let me know if you make a set of onesies for yourself using my tutorial!
I always love to see what you all create!
