Photo Board {{tutorial}}

Somethings just don't go as planned!
This photo board project was one of them!
I saw THIS photo cupboard door tutorial a few weeks back over at
which totally sparked my interest!!
I knew I wanted to take Stacie's idea and run with it!
and that is how my PHOTO BOARD tutorial came into play
(with a few problems and complications creative challenges along the way)

Supplies :
Bead Board
wood trim
E600 glue
Metal clips
Grosgrain ribbon
Picture hanging kit

How to :
First I went over to the handy Home Depot! (love that place)...grabbed a piece of bead board and some wood trim. Took it over to the handy cutting guys and told them what I wanted and they cut all my pieces up for me :)
Next you need to screw your trim onto your bead board (you can also glue it with wood glue...but screwing it together is faster) and then flip it over and add the picture hanging strips to the back!
Now the fun part...paint and stain!
I got some MINWAX Dark Walnut wood stain and started to rub it on the corners of the trim
and right about NOW is when the PANIC and TEARS set in!!!
IT WAS RUINED!
the stain soaked up in 2 seconds and would NOT wipe off :(
so what do you do?
go with it...I kept going and did all the edges and bead board
THEN....
through your tears and sadness ask your husband to either
A - start over and build a new one for you
or
B - spray paint it for you to start over....
HE WENT WITH B!
Now I had a nice clean creamy surface
all I had to do was sand paper the top layers of the paint off to give it that rustic look
MUCH BETTER :)
now place your pictures on your board...lay the metal clips in place
and using the E600 glue them down
I then cut my grosgrain into strips and tied them into knots
using the hot glue gun I glued them onto the metal clips
 * don't forget to burn the edges of your ribbon so they won't fray*
And your done :)
A beautiful piece of wall art!
I made two and placed the clips on different spots for both of them to hang on a big empty wall I have!
 * remember as always if you ever make anything using a LOVE STITCHED tutorial be sure to let me know! I always love to see your creations!!*
