Yes I know I am on a JCEW knock off role ;)
I found this little number online last week...
(Click pic to enlarge)
And it was $79.50...yup you read that right...$80 for a top!
So naturally I had to copy it....
The only thing I would change...is I would add more knots next time!
Here's how to make your own :
(click any pics to make them larger)
Lay out your strips on your t-shirt
Pin the strips and "tabs" into place
sew straight lines down each strip of fabric
Grab each "tab" and start tying them into double knots
*trim any of the ends that are too long after tying them*
DONE!!!Seriously how easy was that???
Gotta love being a copy cat ;)

I love yours better. It is more simplified. I am not much into sewing but three straight lines I think I can handle!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this! I agree, more knots would make it even better, but I love how yours turned out too. You could have several completely different looking tops, all made with the same technique and just varying how many knots and where they are! :]
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
You've done a beautiful job on the top - it looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this- love J Crew, and love your knockoff... I'm 32 weeks pregnant- maybe I could try this on a plain maternity shirt???
ReplyDeleteWe have a linky party on fridays- we'd love it if you'd link to this! :)
Brit, this is so cute! I have been dying to knock off the endless supply of JCrew shirts that I have (sale only!). Can you come home and help your sewing challenged friend?
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! I will by trying this one! I was in JCrew recently and all their stuff is sooooo easy to make!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I've been trying to figure out what to do with my supply of t-shirts that are either getting tiny holes in them where they hit my jeans button or are lightly stained. I think you just solved my problem!
ReplyDeleteGeez that is so cute! And easy!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had your knack for doing projects like these, bravo. I got a B in home ec in jr high, the fact that I couldn't sew a simple book bag kept me from getting straight As. LOL
ReplyDeleteWOW, this turned out incredible. You make it look so easy!! Thanks for sharing and have a fabulous weekend!
