YES THEY DID
they really did
want to know WHAT they did?
{WARNING - somewhat yucky photo...just a heads up if you get whoosy easy}
Well it was a hot summer day
and I MADE all the kids go out to play...
"be active, ride your bike, go Exploring"
I told them
one bike ride around the block later they came back
BORED
already....
really come on! so I said it again...
GO EXPLORING
check out the creek, go to the park, do SOMETHING
Well about 30 min later I get a text saying
"Hey can we go in the creek if we PROMISE to take our shoes off and not get our pants wet"
{insert angels singing praise of joy here}
"YES YES YOU CAN" I respond..."just don't fall in!!" :)
Another 30 min later I hear the kids RUNNING into the house
"MOM!! MOM!!"
{in a super excited voice from my 9 year old}
me - "hey babe did you guys have fun?
Eliot and Ethan - "YES!"
Ethan - we went exploring like you said and found a TIME CAPSULE!
me - "really?? are you sure?"
Avery - "ya were sure we are going to open it right now"
Avery - "ya were sure we are going to open it right now"
me - "ok have fun - but why do you smell like dead fish or something "
Them - "don't know the creek i guess..."
and they run off to the backyard to open their "TIME CAPSULE"
{insert gagging and "eeeewwwsss" here}
I run out to see what is wrong and I see this....
yup that is a DEAD BIRD and the dead fish smell :-/
me - "what is that and WHY do you have it??"
{half gagging half worried half mad}
boys - we thought it was a time capsule so we opened it
me - WHY on EARTH would you think it was a time capsule
boys- well it was buried in a shoe box and had a clue
me - a clue? what did it say
eliot {9 yrs old} - BIRD
me - ummm dude I think that was his tomb stone not a clue
eliot - oooohhh I get it now they were sad their bird died so they buried it
me - ummmmm yup :-/ wow uuummm
now which one of you is going to clean it up. lol
so yes my kids thought they were "exploring" and found a "time capsule" and it was really someones pet bird that had died and they buried...
SAD HUH?
So to any of my neighbors reading this...if it was your bird
I'M SORRY!
do you have any funny stories to share...I'd love to know I'm not alone! Lol
Oh my! haha... that is sad, gross and hilarious all rolled into 1 story! At least it's shared memory nobody will EVER forget! :)

ReplyDeleteOmg that is funny!! My son's only 18 months so nothing too funny yet. He has just really learned what a bug is so you can imagine how many dead (or alive) bugs come into the house.

For the last couple months, I haven't been reading any blogs and just barely starting to update my own, but i'm slowly coming back, hahaha! I've missed reading my faves such as yours, so I'm back on the wagon! Hope your summer is going fantastic!!
