To me...being CREATIVE is a way of life. I like to CREATE in all forms and fashions.
Yesterday my daughter Gentry and I went shopping together. She wanted a shirt that had flowers on it for the Fourth of July, but she felt that it wasn't worth the price they were asking for it. When we got home she started pulling out some fabric, a shirt, and thread and had decided to make her own shirt.
Here are the instructions of how to make your own fabric flower shirt!
Go to any Walmart, Target, Shopko, etc. and pick up a white V-neck t-shirt. If you get them in the mens section you can get 5 for about $11.00 each.
That is about $2.00 per shirt. You could use any shirt-
She found an old t-shirt that they do not wear anymore for the flower part of the shirt.
Cut about 1 1/2" wide strips from fabric or an old shirt.
The strip should be around 12" long depending on how big you want the flower to be.
Sew one end of the strip onto the shirt where you want the center of the flower to be. From there you sew it in circles around that center area.
Be creative and fold and sew to your liking.
Here is the first flower finished. Make sure that it is securely sewn onto the shirt. Use the same color thread as your fabric and you
will not see the stitching thread.
By this point, my daughter Taylor decided she liked Gentry's shirt so much that she made one just like it.
Here she is sewing on some jewels from my newest embellishment collection. I like to think we can accessorize
our creativity!!!!!
The final step is to sew some stripes with blue thread coming out from the flowers to add just a little more pop.
Here Gentry is modeling her shirt at the Fourth of July parade. Super easy, creative and inexpensive!!!!
WANT TO USE THESE FLOWERS IN ANOTHER WAY?
The flowers can be used on more than just shirts. I decided to make the same flowers and add them to a scrapbook
layout. Using that same shirt i made several red flowers to attach to my layout. The RED really makes it stand out. I hand stitched the word YOU using red thread to tie in the red throughout the layout.
