Spreading the word....

A couple of months ago I was contacted by Jen at Dangerously Domestic to see if I would be willing to make and donate something for The Cure JM concert and auction fundraiser. I was more than willing to help out! But I also wanted to do more so Jen, myself and a group of other amazing bloggers ( I am momma hear me roar and Tater tots and jello ) are trying to help spread the word...we are turning to all of YOU to see if you also would be willing to help!

Here is what Jen had to say about the cause :
"Five years ago my brother-in-law had a tumor removed from his brain stem that left him unable to do many things including walking.  At that time we called upon many people & business to donate items to be auctioned off at a fundraiser for their family.  The great outpouring of donations was amazing.  My heart has been touched by the generosity of complete strangers and of loved ones and this is why when my friend asked if I would donate to Cure JM I could not turn her down.
Like myself I bet many of you have never heard of JM or Juvenile Myositis.  Let me tell you a bit about it.  Juvenile Dermatomyositis and Juvenile Polymyositis are the most common forms of JM - a very rare autoimmune disease that affects approximately 17,000 children and adults.
JM causes a variety of debilitating symptoms including:
*Muscle weakness and pain
*Severe fatigue
*Rashes
*Swallowing and digestive difficulties
*Lung and heart problems
*Vasculitic ulcers
*Calcinosis
Some children may experience a remission, while others will battle JM their entire life, and complications from this disease can prove fatal.  Medication can help to alleviate the symptoms of Juvenile Myositis, but there is no known cure.   "

  Here is one child's story....

The benefit concert will be held on September 11th, 2010 at Hillsboro Stadium in Hillsboro, Oregon.   Please take some time to read about the concert and auction HERE .
By the way....Did you see that the headliner is Blake Lewis of American Idol - sooo fun.I wish that I lived closer and could be there myself!!
I'm super excited, lets see how many hands can lift heavy hearts. Let's help them find a Cure for JM.

  2. Brittany,
I wanted to let you know that I received your envelope with your donation to the Cure JM auction. I want to thank you so much for taking an interest and for posting information about this disease. Half of the battle is raising awareness about JM. Most people have not heard of it. The Cure JM Foundation is working hard to raise money to fund research for a cure. My nephew Mason was diagnosed at 17 months and is currently 8. He has a very severe case of the disease and our hope is to continue raising awareness and raising money so that one day he hopefully will be able to do every day things again, like stand, walk, and ride a bike.
Your gift is a step in getting us there and I really want to thank you. I'm looking forward to all that is to come thanks to the wonderful people like you and those who follow your blog. Thanks to all that Craft for a Cure. We appreciate you all.
    Sincerely, Heather
